wow. There aren't a ton of things to do in LaCrosse, but here's what we've done when we go each fall on a "color tour. I recommend you stay at the Radisson. It's a lovely 10? story hotel right on the Mississippi with rooms overlooking it and a park. Nice restaurants are Freighthouse and Piggy's. We also enjoy The Hungry Peddler, a nice little place for B'fsts. There are brewery tours of Heilmann if you're into that. I do recommend you drive either down the Mississippi toward Prairie du Chien on the Great River Road, on the Wisconsin side. I don't remember the hwy #. Or, you can drive up the Mississippi on the Minn. side toward Red Wing. There are some antique shops in Red Wing. Also you'll go through Winona. An old river town with 2 universitys. From Winona, you're only 30-45 minutes from Rochester (the Mayo clinic). also in Lacrosse, visit the locks and watch the barges lock through. There's one just over the bridge to Minnesota on the Interstate. Take a picnic lunch up to the bluffs if it's nice. LaCresent Minn. is Apple country. Perhaps the trees will be in bloom, or stop at the markets and buy some produce or look around. My husband swears by Bauers Market's popcorn. He thinks it's better than Orville's. Email me w/ any other questions.

Michael's Cirisi Club has great food, especially Sunday brunch. If you want a nice drive, visit "The Ridge" - it's a supper club up in the hills. Beautiful drive. Good food & steaks...good price. Not fancy!

LaCrosse has a great mall area too. Sam's Club, Walmart, Kmart & Target are all next to each other. Great compeitition.

It's always a nice drive along the river. Lots of bald eagles when in season. Go down to Prairie du Chein & visit the mansion. Lots of history.
The river towns are fun to explore if you enjoy antiquing or architecture.

Lake Pepin (a 'wide spot' in the Mississippi) is a very scenic area with a couple good restaurants.
The scenery from the bluffs around LaCrosse is pretty.
Stillwater and Minneapolis are both worth the extra effort if you'll be heading all the way up to Pepin.

I got to school at uw-l, so i know a little bit about the area.

The downtown area is great! Lots of cool restaurants. Do you like Cajun? There's a place called Buzzard Billy's that is a really fun place, right on Pearl street. There's also a Fazye's restaurant that has an awesome Sunday breakfast. The Pearl is a local ice cream shop that shouldn't be missed. if you ever want a super nice/fancy meal, go to Piggy's. It looks right onto the water and has the best bbq ribs in the town!

The brewery was just bought, so you can't do the beer tours any longer. go up to grandad's bluff - the highest point in the area. it's really beautiful and you can see all around.

If you like sports, lax just got it's very own professional indoor football league. We also have a basketball team too.

alos, there's that outlet store for that one company, but I think of the name right now. Something with company in the name, i think.

Enjoy!
