January is probably one of the worst months weather wise. It is windy and cool. But how cool it feels to you depends on where you are coming from. Look at http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/...st?query=33040 for better info and past history of the time you will be there. But Susan is correct - it is a great town under any and all conditions.

I was there in early Feb last year - was not expecting great warmth but it was in the low 80's during the day and high 60's to low 70's at night. Slept with the window open and a pleasant breeze coming in - what a great contrast to the frigid northeast! NO guarantees but better bring hte sunblock - I needed it!

I go to Key West every January (that is the best time for me to get away from work) and it has always been excellent weather (perhaps we are lucky that way)
Warm enough to swim in a pool...the ocean is a bit chilly tho. Went parasailing and snorkeling this past year and had a great time. Shorts/sun dress during the day and maybe a light sweater in the evenings.
We had the a/c on in our hotel room to control the humidity more than the temp.
have a great time and let us know how the trip went!

I too LOVE the Keys anytime of the year. We try to visit at least 2x a year. The last couple of years we have only been able to come down in Jan and both years were great but it was a bit on the chilly side. One year we didn't even go in the pool. BUT the week after we left it looked liked it warmed up a bit to upper 70's - just our luck.

My wife and I went to the Keys last January and it was COLD; well, for the Keys that is. The average temp was 60 during the day and lower 50's at night. The water was 65 degrees. Went in January two years before that and it was in the 80's and the water was in the high 70's. I guess what I'm saying is it's pot luck down there during the month of January. I always look at like this: It beats the hell out of being in NJ during the winter.
