Jazz at the Met NYC
I read somewhere about jazz music at the Met. I looked on their website, but only found info on the more "formal" events. Could someone tell when jazz night is? is there admission? are there refreshments available to purchase? and of course I won't go looking like a slob, but is there a suggested dress code? Thanks for the information!

There's jazz at Lincoln Center, right next to the Met. Try: http://www.jazzatlincolncenter.org/

Or do you mean at the Metropolitan Museum of Art? If you do mean the museum, they stay late on Friday & Saturday nights and you're right - there's no mention of the regular concerts on the website except...under dining they list the Great Hall Balcony Bar which is only open on Fri & Sat with music from 5 to 8 pm on those evenings. As far as I know the only admission is to the museum and no dress code.
There's also free jazz on Fridays at the Rose Center (planetarium at Natural History Museum) at 5:45pm & 7:15pm. Free with admission and food & beverages available.

Billy -- it's actually not "jazz" at the Metropolitan, it's classical music played by a quintet on the balcony. They have small tables and a bar. The dress is casual. It really is a lovely way to end a day at the museum or begin an evening out.
I think they have jazz at the Guggenheim in the rotunda -- same setup with a bar and tables. Not sure what nights of the week. You might check their website.
Enjoy!

Billy -- I don't know when you'll be there, but I doubt the rooftop garden is open in late April. I think it doesn't open until mid to late May.
It is very nice -- a great view of the Park and great sunsets. In fact, it is so nice that my husband planned to propose there. But when we got up there (on an absolutely perfect September night with a beautiful sunset) we found that dozens of other New Yorkers had decided to join us! He lost his nerve. So, after a nice glass of champagne and a great view of the sunset, we got engaged in the sculpture garden downstairs on our way out of the museum!
