January vacation in CA

Where is the warmest places to visit in CA in the beginning of January with two adult children(19 and 21)besides LA and San Diego.

Also if you have any recommendations for hotels and restaurants.

Thanks

Palm Springs?

I have stayed at the Esmeralda (Indian Wells) and I think it's a very nice place. Love the pool, pool bar and the spa.

Definately the desert but keep in mind it will cool down considerable at night. Depends I guess on where you are coming from. The beaches will be 50-60's.

Other than the deserts, the coast is usually warmer than the interior. If it's not raining, the weather can be very nice.

We often go to Monterey and Carmel in January. Santa Barbara can also be a good choice.

California is really hit and miss in January... it can be cool at the beaches, still foggy in the San Joaquin Valley, and cold or rainy everywhere else.

If you want warm beaches I think you may want to come in September or October. oSmetimes we'll get a week of 80* weather...like in Feb this year but impossible to plan a trip around.

Sorry, I know these aren't the comments you'd like to hear but we're being truthful.

Definitely try Palm Desert and the surrounding area. It can rain in Jan!
