Inter-Island Coupon Books??
I am ready to book inter island flights between Oahu, BI and Maui. (It looks as if I have to connect back thru HNL to get from BI to Maui?) I keep reading about coupon books in past threads... are they still available? can I only buy them locally? are they the best deal?? The fare on Aloha is around $70 for each one way segment.
Cheers,
Lin

when i checked on this 2 months ago the coupon deal doesn't exist anymore and the best one way was about the $70 you are getting. If your flights are far enough out in the future, try for award travel tickets; they take 5000 United miles on Aloha. You can get 20000 bonus miles on UA by signing up for their visa card
here is a link to the United Mileage Plus Visa that gives you 20,000 bonus miles after first use. That should hopefully be enough for all of your interisland airfares. It is 5,000 miles for a roundtrip (or 2 legs) and then it is 5,000 miles for a one way also. Be sure and print out the offer as First USA is bad about getting these bonus miles right. You may have to send them the offer to make sure they give you the 20,000 miles and not one of the other offers that is floating around out there. It really is a great deal to use these miles for the Aloha interisland in my opinion. Here is the link: http://www.firstusa.com/cgi-bin/webc..._signature_20k
It costs $60 a yr. You also get a mile for every $ spent on it. I have it and charge everything on it and pay it off each month. build up UA miles for the next trip too.

Big Dog,
Thanks for your UA tip, unfortunately they don't seem to be too keen on giving Canadians US credit cards (guess they'd be out of luck if we didn't pay our bill!) We've tried a few times without success. The 20K free miles would work magic!
Island Mom - would the coupon books offer enough of a saving to warrant trying to buy them from Canada? We will be in Oahu for the month of Feb before our inter island trips but I am worried about leaving the flights that late to book. What do you think??
Cheers,
Lin

I booked some flights last night for our upcoming trip in September. Aloha currently had some promotional fares at their website which were cheaper than the last time I checked. I paid $62 to $65 per flight. You have to book by Sept 4th. Be sure to check all of the options, as some flights were considerably cheaper than others.

I booked my inter-island flights yesterday. HNL to BI to Maui to HNL over a period of two weeks. I followed some Fodorite advice and called Aloha. The fares for two adults were $395 (an extra 5% AAA discount)from booking online. I thought roughly $66 per leg was a great deal for February. Don't know what I'll blow that extra $17 savings on!!! Thanks everyone!
