If you could travel anywhere in the US where would you go?
My husband and I are planning a July vacation and would like to stay in the United States. We are looking for great food, nightlife and some opportunities for sightseeing and daytrips. We are in our late 20's, no kids and would like to stay within a budget of 2000.00 for airfare and hotel- 4 nights. Suggestions needed ! Thanks!

I've been just about everywhere in the US I want to go.
Oh. Where would we suggest YOU go? With your list I'd say San Francisco with side trips to the wine country (Napa, Sonoma, or Russian River) and down the coast (Monterrey, 17 mile drive, down as far as the Hearst castle at least).

They need to know where your home airport will be. Also do you enjoy demanding outdoor activities or not- is that what a vacation is to you? An adventure or a relaxing sabbatical? They need to know that as well. And also how you feel about being hot, hot: walking in temperatures over 90 degrees or being on a hot sandy beach for instance when it is smoken.

SF is great for that time of year, you wouldn't be too hot there. It might be too expensive.

San Francisco would be a good choice but may not fit your budget, depending on your home base. You can get some great deals in the Keys, but it will be hot. Vegas would be another, but it will really be hot.

Just airfare and hotel for $2k for 4 nights is very doable IMO. If you say even $200/night for hotels, that still leaves you $600 each for airfare which easilt gets you coast to coast. You can go anywhere in the Continental US.
I live in Philadelphia but really like the San Francisco idea for the middle of the Summer.

This is really unfair unless you give us a hint about where you are from.
First of all we'd like to know that you would actually be "going" on a "trip" and we can't do that unless we understand from where you would begin.
I'm going to reserve suggestions until learning more.

I hate you !
Go to Miami (wish I could) - I am now too old (38) have a 2 year old (now do sensible things like whale watching in BC) we went to Miami 3 years go - for your terms of ref it has to be the place in the world. Sight seeing - The Keys, Naples, Viscaya House, - some of the hotels on South beach are very reasonble and you don't have a taxi problem home at night. Some of the Hip hotels on Collins will lose your budget in one night!
Have fun !
