How to get to Edgartown, MA?
Will be flying from Denver. Should we fly to Boston, then take the ferry to Edgartown? Or fly to New York, or another city, to take train or ferry? I believe we could fly there, but am not wild about that idea; we don't like small planes.
This is a last minute plan we just made, and I know nothing about Martha's Vineyard. We are excited to go there! But confused by how to get there.
Already booked the hotel, the Harborside had a water view room available. Wanted the Harbor View, but it is sold out-- unless we want a one bdrm suite for $1200, which we do not.
Can anyone give me some transport tips? Thanks!

From Logan Airport, you can take the bus to the MV ferry at Wood's Hole. http://www.steamshipauthority.com/ss...un=MV&From=BOS
There isn't a train from Boston to the Cape.
Someone can tell you the best way to get to Edgartown once on island.

Hi PeaceOut,
There are lots of posters here who are very familiar with the Cape and the Islands, so hopefully they'll chime in soon.
The easiest option would be for you to fly directly to MV. If you fly to Boston, you'd have to get yourselves down to the Cape (eg, by bus http://www.mvy.com/Visitor_Informati...e_Ferries.aspx ) in order to catch the ferry to MV. There are multiple ferry operators that depart from different towns on the Cape. I believe most of them dock at Vineyard Haven but not in Edgartown, so you'll need to take a bus or taxi at Vineyard Haven to get to your final destination.

Fly to Boston, Providence, or New York La Guardia, then fly on to the Vineyard.
Cape Air flies from Boston, Terminal C, the same terminal as United, JetBlue, and others. I am pretty sure that USAir flies from LaGuardia. Cape Air flies from Providence, which is served by Southwest.
Taxi from airport to Edgartown. It isn't that far.
If you had more time, you can take the bus to Woods Hole and take the ferry, but it isn't worth it for such a short trip.

There is a direct ferry from NYC to Martha's Vineyard. It operates TO MV on Thursdays and Fridays; it returns from MV on Sundays and Mondays. If you don't mind paying the price ($220 round-trip, which could be cheaper than the flight), then it would be an option should you find it more convenient to fly into LGA. This particular ferry goes into Oak Bluffs, not Edgartown, however.

Thank you all. It sounds like a trek! I will check out your suggestions.
The Steamship Authority arrives at Vineyard Haven. From there, a cab is the way to get to Edgartown? Still confused. . .

The conference brochure directed me to Martha's Vineyard on-line, which looks like it will be a big help. Maybe we need to re-consider flying there, as opposed to flying-busing-ferrying.
Well, I hear Martha's Vineyard is worth the trouble!
