How far ahead do you need to get tickets for the Getty?

We will be in California in early October. Is it too late to get tickets for both of the Getty properties?

You only need a timed ticket for the Villa. And my guess is that you should be able to get them now for an October visit with minimal trouble.

Villa is closed on Tuesdays, the reservation is mainly for the limited parking.

One other thing to consider: part of the villa and its collection is closed because work is being done there. If you want the full experience of the place and its collection and think you might return in future, you may prefer to hold off until it's fully up and running (per their website, sometime in spring 2018).

I went there earlier this year and did enjoy the visit, but that might be an issue. The upstairs was not open at the time.

There are two locations of the Getty - the Malibu Villa with antiquities, and the GettyCenter off the 405. Just making sure you're aware of that. Both are beautiful.
