My wife and I enjoyed our recent weekend at Stevenswood Lodge.
The new owners, Michael & Seth have a winning combination of European style, rugged sophistication and personal attentiveness.
The Lodge is nestled between Redwood Trees, Ocean Meadow and scuplted floral and fauna gardens.
Our trip was flawless. The private hot tub was soothing along the forest ridge, and the breakfast was on par with any 5 star hotel. One of the owners, Michael personally served us our gourmet breakfast. They had 5 or 6 delicious sounding entree choices. My wife had their signature Sheared Eggs, made with local Dunguness Crab, Asparagus and Swiss Cheese. I had melt in your mouth White Chocolate/Macadamia Nut Belgian Waffles.
They have complimentary wireless internet throughout the property and the suites are stocked with long range cordless phones that work anywhere on the resort. They also have speaker phones, color plasma TVs with HBO and wood burning fireplaces.
This place is amazing! I have been traveling to the Mendocino Coast for over 20 years and my only regret is that we didn't discover Stevenswood Lodge sooner!
YOU MUST DINE AT THEIR RESTAURANT! It is the best food I've ever had in my life! Their executive chef, Mark Dymm, is a magician..! The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. My wife had salmon that was so good I had several bites and I usually hate seafood. They have the highest Zagat rating of any restaurant North of the bay area and now I know why.
The other properties in the area are nice, some are even great...But not one compares to the quality and sophistication of Stevenswood. It is comparable to any 4 or 5 star resort anywhere.

I went to La Folie in October and loved it. However, you must go hungry.....we were stuffed to the gills by the time we left, and we had to pass on dessert. Another nice one in the same area is Petit Robert. They have a lot of small plates which is lighter.

La Folie it is then! I haven't been yet, so must try something new!
Cigalechanta, Fleur de Lys is a great suggestion, but already been and liked very much.
Thanks all! Fodorites come through again!
