HAwAii & NYC - how do AustrAliAns combine this trip???

I would love to do Hawaii & NYC on a trip next year. I am from Melbourne, australia & trying to work out what flights I could take which work well & do not cost a fortune.
Has anyone done this trip & what airlines did you use.

I am finding it difficult to work out how to combine both.

Easy. Jetstar from Melbourne to Honoulu and then Hawaiian Airlines has a direct flight to New York. Hawaiian is a good airline.

I think it's very easy to do this. Several airlines have flights from Australia to Hawaii (some that stopover and some that just fly there), and then it's pretty easy to get to NYC. If you don't do the nonstop on Hawaiian Airlines, you can easily get a one-stop flight through LA, SFO, Chicago, or Dallas, which can be especially nice if you want to see another city in addition to NYC and Hawaii.

If you can't find an airline that will take you all the way to NYC with just stopovers, then book separate tickets to Hawaii from Australia and separate tickets from Hawaii to NYC and allow an extra day between flights as a buffer in case something is delayed.

My brother comes up from Australia every year, and has found it much cheaper to get two tickets as mentioned above. He does a round trip of either Brisbane-Honolulu or Sydney-HNL, plus another round trip HNL-LAX. Just make sure you allow time for delays if you are on different airlines for the two trips.

Both United and Hawaiian Air have non-stop flights from Honolulu to NYC.
