My mom and I are going out to Las Vegas in late April and we wanted to visit the Grand Canyon while there. Has anyone taken a tour from Las vegas to the Canyon? Can you suggest a tour?
I was thinking of using 'Quality Tours' but have never heard anything about them.
Sugesstions?

We were in LV this month and there were loads of Grand Canyon tour ads...maybe your concierge will have the lead on a good one.

A few years ago, we took a trip over the Grand Canyon by plane. I would never ever do it again. It was May & in the 90's. The small plane was bouncing up & down due to the heat pockets. We hit our head several times & by the time we landed, everyone was running to the restrooms, due to stomach sickness.

Consider taking the Grand Canyon Railroad trip from Williams, AZ to the Canyon. You can access this online. There's a 2-hour train ride to the Canyon. My husband and I took it last year and loved it.

Rebecca, we took the most amazing tour of the Grand Canyon two years ago. It was with a company called Action Tours (actiontours.com - we took scenic tour #9). It's totally different from the other tours. You do not ride in a large bus full of people to the South Rim, where you join hundreds of tourists standing along the railings trying to get a quick look before boarding the bus again.

This company uses small 8 passenger 4 wheel drive vehicles. The Grand Canyon "begins" further west than the South Rim. We went to the Hualapai Indian Reservation, which is not part of the National Park System. We were driven down the "only" road to the Colorado River, where we could see the canyon rise above us. We parked at the bottom, put our feet in the water, and looked up! Afterward, we drove to the top...it's not as wide as the South Rim, but just as deep. There are no railings, and no other people in site. Large tour buses are not allowed here. I believe just this tour company and one or two others. It is fascinating to see the canyon this way. My hubby and I were the only two people on the tour that day.

My husband and I took a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas about 3 weeks ago. We used a company called Maverick that our hotel concierge put us in touch with. I would highly recommend it--the views were (obviously) spectacular! We flew out there (and had great views of Hoover Dam along the way), landed on the floor of the Canyon and the pilot set up champagne and a small picnic for us as we watched the sun set against the red walls of the Canyon. Unforgettable!

Was the helicopter bumpy? Any problems with motion sickness?
Would love to try this but am worried about feeling sick the whole time.

Kak, the tour was about $150.00 per person. It may sound expensive, but for us it was worth every $$$. I have suggested this tour to several friends before their trips to LV and they have raved about it as well. I believe you are picked up at the hotel at 7:00 a.m. and return around 6:00 p.m. It's a full day, but you still have time to shower, have dinner, and enjoy a night on the town.
