Has Anyone Head of the Monarch Hotel in D.C.?

Hi,

I've heard the Monarch hotel in D.C. has a good location near Foggy Bottom, but I don't know anything about it.

Has anyone stayed there or know anything about it? Would it be better to stay at a more national type of chain, ie Sheraton, etc. for a trip to D.C.?
Thanks for your help!

It's a luxury hotel, very nice, has a good restaurant a good fitness facility in it (I forget the name, FItness something). It used to be the ANA Hotel and is near 24th and M Streets NW which is an okay location, you can at least walk to Georgetown from there, but it's not as close to a metro stop as some others (maybe 5-6 blocks). I would not think a Sheraton would be better at all in terms of quality. It's owned by the same company that runs Hotel del Coronado in San Diego.

So that's what it's called now! It seems to change names every two weeks.

It's a lovely hotel. I haven't actually stayed overnight, but have attended many weddings there.

The metro is a bit further than 5-6 blocks, but it is within reasonable walking distance (no more than 15 minutes).

The Foggy Bottom metro stop is at 23rd St and I Sts which is only 5-6 blocks from 24th and M (depending on whether you count the narrow bit of land between Pa and K as a block or not when you go around the circle) (numbered streets in DC run No-So and letters run East-West in a grid, and there is no J St),. You could walk to a stop futher away if you wished, as there are several.
