Halfway Point Between Charleston and Richmond

Ideas for a cute town, good food for a stop halfway from Charleston to Richmond. Traveling next week with 2 teens. Thanks!

I suspect the OP is talking about Charleston in South Carolina. Frankly, I'd simply drive the entire route and spend my quality time IN Richmond.

Jill_K, you tagged the post North Carolina, but I assumed when I read it the you meant South Carolina.

If so, Chapel Hill or Raleigh might be a good midway point. However, I agree with Dukey about just driving the distance to Richmond. It's a straight shot on I95.

Thank you for the help. I guess I tagged North Carolina bc that's where the halfway point would be. We will be in Durham (and will see Chapel Hill) on the way down so was looking for something else. We just will want a bit of a break. 6 hours too much on my husband's back without one so looking for something other than fast food off of 95.

Maybe Wilmington. You could go up 17, stop at Brookgreen Gardens and or Hopsewee, contue through Myrtle (or bypass it) ending up in Wilmington.

It's interstate from there to Richmond via I40 to I95.

what Sue says, if you can't do the whole way. It is really not that far, but I'm not the one with back pain.
