"Godfather" vintage Italian restaurant
I have heard that there is a section of the Bronx...is it Anthony Ave....where there is a series of Italian restaurants similar to the famed restaurant in Godfather 1. Does such a location exist? Is it feasible to go there? As you can tell from my posts I am preparing a trip to New York....after many years absence.

Search this site for Aurthur Ave and also Yankee's Game. Last month I asked what to do in the Brox after a Yankee's game and as always the writers at this site helped in many ways. There are directions to the Authur Ave area and recommended resturants and bakeries.
My experience was: took the D train to Yankee Stadium for the game. Then took the 4 train through the Brox to Fordam Rd. Then caught the 14 bus to Aurthur Ave and walked about 6 blocks into Little Italy. This was a true adventure and if your not afaid to walk the city it was great fun. We ate at Marios. The food was good. The half moom Pizza Shop had great pizza by the slice and the markets and bakeries were filled with wonderful foods to buy or just browse through. There was a street fair going on also.
Our problem arose when we wanted to get back to midtown. It was getting late and we weren't comfortable going back the way we came in the dark. We ended up hiring a car service (Flash) that the resturant recommended. The first driver picked us up but when we told him where we wanted to go he stoped the car and called another driver to pick us up - "he wasn't
going all the way downtown." We loaded into another car and off we went. My husband kept giving me a look like "this is crazy". It was a long drive back in terrible traffic. The driver charged us $20.00 but it was well worth the money. I didn't realize how far away we were. During the drive we were holding on pretty tight in the back seat while he drove like a maniac dodging traffic. I had to tell him where to go because I really don't think he knew where our hotel was in midtown. We arrived safely and it made for a great travel story, esepecially for our NJ and NY friends who think we were nuts to go there in the first place. They were wrong this was great fun!!!
