Frustration making California dining reservations on line

The first time was with the Slanted Door. Open Table handles the reservations and does not seem to recognize a Canadian .ca e.mail address. I finally was able to direct my reservation request directly to the restaurant and was booked. Now it has happened again as I prepare to book restaurants in Sonoma. My first reservation attempt was Willis and again I am stuck. Sure hate to start having to telephone these places. Any thoughts why this should be?

No, I have no idea why you would hate having to call restaurants directly for reservations. Seems like a pretty straightforward way to handle things.

Well...as someone who loves Open Table and especially loves collecting dining out points towards gift certificates, I can totally understand why it would be a drag to call and make reservations.

First, I would contact Open Table directly - it may be an issue with their website validation.

Second...I would consider opening a free Yahoo or Gmail account specifically for this purpose. It's free. And you wouldn't have the issue of the .ca email address. I prefer Gmail because I think they do a better job of filtering out the spam.

Have a great trip to CA.

Here we go ipod_robbie. The reason I "hate to start having to telephone" could be the fact that the waiting time for calls can sometimes be extensive ie: Slanted Door which warns you in advance. That is why they use Open Table. I really don't see the genius in making a costly long distance call when I should be able to make a reservation on the web. But thanks for your 'helpful' reply.
beanweb24...I did notify them twice and never heard back. I'll set up a hot mail or a Gmail account (not familiar with that one) and see if that might facilitate making the reservations.Very much looking forward to our trip to Ca. Thanks for your help

Not familiar with google mail? Go to google.com. There's a link to gmail. It goes, web, images, news, shopping, gmail, more.

Do the restaurants have email addresses? I'm sure many do, and since you don't want to call - it might work for you.

We love Willies and don't make reservations. I don't think they are big on them anyway. We just show up before 6 pm and either eat then, or make a reservation. Your hotel here could help you. Unless its some sort of very special weekend, you should not have a problem getting into restaurants in Healdsburg....except possibly Cyrus.

No Willies does not have an e.mail addy OR I would have tried that route. Now I just set up a Gmail addy and still Open Table doesn't recognize it. SOOOOOO....kieroux...I suspect the lot of us will just show up and hope for the best. Thanks to all
