First Major Road trip- Montana to Washington
Wanting to take a road trip from Montana (see Yellowstone, and glacier national park), through Idaho to Portland Oregon, and end in Seattle Washington. We are up for other small cities and stops. Wanting to do this in a week? Is this realistic??
Any suggestions on stops to make, and places to see? How much time to spend in each area?
What are some of the best places to stay?
We are from Cincinnati, Ohio so we plan to fly out to Montana, rent a car and make a week of it. Neither of us have been to these are so any help and input is greatly appreciated?
We want to see the beauty and nature in Montana, but also look forward to the city of Portland and Seattle. We are pretty diverse and game for anything.
Thanks!

Yellowstone and Tetons need nearly a week
Glacier needs 3 days at the absolute minimum.
Portland or Seattle. If you decide on one of those, pick just one and explore the areas around them. We spend 13 days in Washington and 14 in Oregon. Still not enough time.

Totally unrealistic. You're looking at about 3 days of driving without counting time to stop and see anything. That gives you one day for each stop (Glacier, Yellowstone, Portland and Seattle). Add in the drop fee for the one-way car rental and it becomes even more unrealistic.
Just pick one area - Portland/Seattle or Glacier/Yellowstone. Even then you are not giving yourself enough time for either area but it's far better than trying to do all 4 destinations in one week.

I think you will find that flying to Montana is more expensive than flying to Portland or Seattle.
A week is not realistic but if you want to see one National park, try this on for size. Fly to Portland or Seattle.
Take the eastbound Amtrak Empire Builder to Whitefish Montana. This trip is overnight arriving in Whitefish before 10AM MT.
The sections of the train join in Spokane in the middle of the night.
Rent the car in Whitefish and then see Glacier NP. Take the train back to Portland or Seattle. Skip Yellowstone/Grand Tetons for a 10+day trip driving north from SLC.
