Enchantment in Sedona, Worth the $$$??? B&B and Dining suggestions welcome

We (30's couple from NYC leaving baby 1st time with in-laws) are going to Sedona in October and have res. at Enchantment for $275 per night with nothing included. Is it worth it??? Alternative B&B suggestions welcome but must be very special (note: no baby) and must have a pool. Also any dining suggestions are welcome as we are real foodies! Thanks.

We stayed at Poco Diablo last year. It was very nice though not as fancy as Enchantment. Ate at the Joey restaurant at Los Abrigados which was excellent. We went to Slippery Rock State Park, my husband and I hiked while our kids swam and did natural water slide. Wanted to horseback ride, and go to Red Rock State Park, but not enough time. We did shop in town, very artsy all of family would like to return and spend a week there.

I was hiking last year at Boyiton canyon where the Enchantment is located. Beautiful spot but it really bothered me to see this fancy hotel for white folks smack in the middle of Indian sacred grounds. The local Sedona people told us that that is why the Enchatment has gone through so many different owners in its short history...bad "vibes" from them descecrating a holy ground. We sat in one of the cliff dwellers caves high on a cliff overlooking the Enchantment and I had a very bad feeling looking down on those tennis courts and the workers there setting up for some wedding while their loudspeaker blared across the silence of the canyon.

Randi, Ssssshhhhhh, I'm going to tell you a secret but keep it quiet..."Garland's" is a family owned business with rental cabins...The family owns 20+ acres along Oak Creek north of Slide Rock State Park...They grow apples that are to die for and the cabins are detached and among the trees...Now the down side, since it has been around for many years, and it is so popular with locals reservations are hard to come by...Also understand this is not a resort but they might have a swimming pool, I don't remember...Good Luck, Mary

I stayed at the Enchantment last summer along
with my husband and 3 year old son. The view
from our room was SPECTACULAR! Just yesterday
my husband and I were discussing what a great
time we had and how the Enchantment would be
our number one choice if we were to visit
Sedona again. The resort was accomodating and
clean. We played croquet, tennis and didn't
manage to swim, but a large size pool is on the
premises.
The food in their restaurant was excellent and the
staff was very pleasant. Our two night stay was
sufficient, and worth the money, primarily because
of the setting. When I'm looking for a romantic get-a-way
this is certainly high on my list!

My husband and I spent a week at the Enchantment resort two years ago. Although the location of the resort was spectacular, the accommodations were not worth the money. We enjoy staying at luxurious resorts, and the room at the Enchantment was below par, quite rustic with very few amenities. We did not find the staff particularly helpful or friendly - in fact, I was six months pregnant at the time and they would not change the location of our room which was up a very steep hill. When we return to Sedona in the future, we won't be staying there.

We were in Sedona 3 years ago. We stayed at a lovely B&B right outside in Oak Creek -Graham's. We have recommended it several times since and everyone is impressed and surpised by how much they liked it. Every room is decorated richly and differently. The structure itself was designed to be a B&B. The price is about half of what you stated. Breakfast is gourmet. There is a small pool - not too good for swimming but good enough to cool down in. They also have bikes for usage. And they are the nicest people. I'm surprised no one has mentioned taking a Pink Jeep ride. It was the highlight of our stay. Take the one to Broken Arrow and hang on for a great ride. Make your reservations before you go. Sugaros was the most reliable restaurant for a good, reasonable meal. Just drive around the scenery is so spectacular. And don't worry, the baby will do fine. Enjoy!

Just returned from Sedona; stayed at Los Abrigados--and another place I'll mention later-- for three nights (very nice, wonderful accommodations, nice restaurants on site)...but pricey like Enchantment. I don't know how much $275 is worth to you, but for me, I'd rather spend my money on less expensive (but still somewhat luxurious) lodging and more expensive entertainment (pink jeep tours, hot air balloon rides, tour to Grand Canyon, etc). We drove out to Enchantment one mid-afternoon, had drinks and afternoon snack on the patio. Grounds are lovely and everyone was exceptionally attentive...made sure that we took the opportunity to enjoy the view from the main dining room eventhough it was closed at the time. I would recommend that you find another place for lodging, but make dinner reservations there...or go out as we did. Really, lovely view, but there are few places in Sedona that don't have lovely views. For our last night there, we found a lovely MOTEL, yes, a Best Western...the Inn of Sedona! Our room was $90 a night (make reservations thru Best Western...they gave us a better rate that direct to hotel). We had a spacious bedroom, generous sized bath, and more than luxurious decor...and a huge patio with tables & chairs...shared by about 10 rooms (though we only saw about 2 people at a time using it) overlooking North Sedona and beautiful afternoon views of the red rocks (from the room as well as the patio). Truly, I could have asked for nothing more! They also have suites...some rooms with fireplaces...a modest sized pool...and are next door to a lovely restaurant called Judi's. Please email me direct if you would like to know more about this place. I think it is a real jewel and I'd like to advise you as to which rooms to ask for! Also, re: Enchantment. Brochures say that their rates start at $210! Good luck!
