Embassy Suites Charleston-Historic District
Is this a good area to stay in, ie withing walking distance of historic districts, dining, etc?
I've heard a couple of different remarks on this.
Thank you!

A large portion of the Charleston peninsula is 'historic.' The Embassy Suites is located very near the Visitor's Center and Upper King Street (http://littleworksofheart.typepad.co...ingcharleston/) but still walkable to the 'lower' portion of the historic district/peninsula. South of Broad is almost completely residential as is the area west of King all the way to Calhoun. North of Calhoun and west of King is roughly the hospital/College of Charleston/Medical University of
SC area.
The main shopping/dining area is roughly from King east to East Bay and from Broad north past Calhoun through the above listed Upper King. There are also several hotels/inns, etc in this area.
I wold think that most travellers that are walkers would consider this hotel within walking distance to the historic district. Check the scale of any map and you can judge for yourself. There is a trolley that would be very convenient for you; passes can be purchased at the Visitor Center. There are lots of pedicabs available, especially after dinner if you decide not to walk back to the hotel.
