Early Flight
I have an early flight in December (615am)out of Boston and have trouble getting up in the morning, plus there isn't any public transportaion that early from nh where I? Anybody know anything about cheap hotels near logan for the night before? or should I just suck it up, get out of bed and drive (gulp) to the airport...I hate driving to logan from NH

I'm not familiar with the situation near that particular airport, but many large airports have hotels nearby that offer "Park & Fly" packages that allow you to stay and leave your car for a number of days. When you net out the cost against airport parking charges and add in the convenience factor, it can be a very attractive way to handle the situation. It's worth checking out.

Plenty of Priceline hits on okay places near Logan for $50+/- are recorded at www.biddingfortravel.com. That's what I'd do (also detest trying to get to/from Logan in the early AM.)

Burrother I would not want to be driving from NH to Logan to get there at 4:30am, so would be worth staying nearby, but be aware of a couple of things. There are indeed a handful of hotels right there AT the airport, but none are cheap. There are also a lot of hotels that have "airport" in their name that really aren't anywhere near the airport. And if you pull up a list of hotels via Travelocity or Orbitz or something similar, you're likely to get a cluster in downtown Boston because, as the crow flies, they are close -- but again not cheap. My recommendation is to use Travelocity's ability to plot the hotels out on a map (or ask Orbitz to sort by distance) and look for motels NORTH (northeast or northwest) of the airport. Even though you won't have much traffic early in the morning, it's just easier to come in from Winthrop or Chelsea than it is from downtown, and they will be less expensive. I'd use the T'city map to find a place, then go to the hotel chain's website or call them directly to see what kind of rate you get.
The Park + Fly plan is great and look what Googling that for Logan found!!: http://www.parksleepfly.com/subpages...&airportID=BOS

We live in Maine and often fly out of Logan. We have stayed at the Hilton right at the airport a couple of times for 89.00/99.00 per night. I'm not sure what your definiton of cheap is, but we thought this was a good value for the convenience. You can walk over to the terminal. I am not sure about parking at the hotel-we usually take Concord Trailways down from Portland so don't have to deal with driving/parking at all.

Well, if you want cheap, there's a HI/AYH Hostel near Hynds Convention Center on Hemingway. Also, I remember reading & visiting (online) a hostel located somewhere between the Maverick & Airport stops on the Blue Line - I didn't bookmark it & can't recall the name at this time. My niece & her s/o stayed at the Hemingway hostel (www.hiahy.org) and were pleased with it.

http://loganrms.4t.com/ is the Hostel near the airport, "Logan Arms" - $30 and airport van.
Also found http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/552b4/ "Beantown Hostel" near Fleet Center rooms for $22
I'm not recommending the hostels that are not HI/AYH affiliated, just bringing them to your attention. They may be great, they may be the pits.
