Driving solo from Newark to Queens?
I live in the Toronto area so am used to urban traffic but I have never driven the above route before..I just remember how congested things always were when driving to Queens as a passenger. I am dropping my daughter off in Elizabeth, New Jersey for a weekend visit with a good friend and then continuing on to visit cousins in Queens. At least I plan to but feel somewhat less confident going alone. Need I be?

It's probably easiest to take the Lincoln Tunnel and then drive straight across Manhattan on 34th Street to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. I find that to be a less stressful route because there are fewer turns, though you can certainly run into a lot of midtown traffice that way. You'll pay two tolls, but I think that's the most direct route. You can avoid Manhattan entirely by driving across the Goethals Bridge and across Staten Island and the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

What am I concerned about exactly? The fact that I have never driven this area although I am used to city traffic, although Toronto is not at all like New York City, yes, getting lost would not be very cool..wondering how brave I would be..ha,ha.

I went to U of T and had many friends visit me @ NYC and they had no problems adjusting, they meaned up. Toronto is actually pretty similar to NYC in many ways, it's not all that different, just bumpier streets and more cabs.
