Drive from Denver to Yellowstone in 1 day?
Plan a family roadtrip in August. To start off we plan a 3-4 day visit to Yellowstone. We will drive from Denver and are wondering if we need to stop one night on the way?
We have 2 kids, 10 and 13, and loooong drives might be tooo booring. Any ideas for fun or interesting stops on the way? Suggestions for hotels?

We like to break up the drive from Denver by stopping at the end of the day in Thermopolis in Wyoming: kids love the thermal features in the Hot Springs State Park, there's the Wyoming Dinosaur Center in town, and the trip the next day to YNP is made much easier. There are two hotels/motels within the park, which is nice (and they have their own hot spring-fed pools): Best Western Plus and Days Inn (former Holiday Inn). Lots of other choices (along the river is nice, too).
The drive is beautiful, and there are lots of interesting sights along the way.

Keep calling for reservations as there are always cancellations. Also consider spending a night in Grand Teton NP.
We've stayed in Thermopolis on the way back to Denver. Weird and interesting! We've also stayed in Cody for a night, watched the "gunfight" in front of the Irma Hotel and then went to the rodeo.
