Door County to Mackinac to Traverse City: suggestions?
My wife and I and another couple are thinking of an August driving trip from Door County to Mackinac Island to Traverse City. We are all in our 60s and one of our group is unable to handle long or strenuous hikes, but we are otherwise fairly active and adventurous. We love nature, appreciate interesting historical/cultural spots, like theatre and dance, and enjoy good food and good wine.
We would be traveling from Chicago to Door County and staying there for about a week. From Door, we were thinking of a clockwise road trip to Mackinac, Traverse City and its wine country, and then down to Ludington for the ferry ride over to Milwaukee. Any thoughts on how we might enhance the trip would be greatly appreciated.

Our favorite places to stay in Door County would be either Egg Harbor or Fish Creek. Lovely. While in Traverse City please enjoy Old Mission Peninsula! I believe they have at least 4 wineries for tasting. Check it out at: http://www.oldmission.com/
