Does Telluride REALLY exist????
I have tried to get some responses on this one...Im starting to wonder if it really exists.Maybe you Colorado experts will know more about it...We are considering skiing there in Dec. or Jan.Trying to decide between Telluride and Aspen. We want a cool atmosphere, great skiing, excellent lodging, and a picture perfect setting (in case we decide to get married while there)I have read really great stuff about this part of Colorado but havent gotten alopt of feedback.ANY input would be most helpful....

Hi. We've been to Telluride, but in the summer. Never been to Aspen, so I can't compare it to that. We loved Telluride. I liked the historical feel of the town, and the setting is beautiful.
A friend of mine from the gym has a condo on the mountain above Telluride, I forget what it's called. He loves to ski and said one thing that's so wonderful about Telluride skiing is that there are no lift lines. What a treat that would be! He said on a weekend you wait maybe 5 mins.
Maybe Aspen would be easier to get to, I'm not sure. When my friend goes to Telluride, he flies into Montrose, and then it's about an hour drive from there.
So from what I've seen of Telluride in the summer, and from people I've spoken to who've skied there, you will have wonderful setting and skiing in Telluride. I hope this is helpful! Karen

if i may be so bold as to suggest that in either town will fit the bill, but i'd give the slight edge to telluride because you want to do something different. we do a winter trip there each year and stay slopside at a place called the ice house. it's awesome. the skiing is IMHO better than the aspen hills, to boot. I'm not knocking aspen, by the way, it's just that if you've never been to either place, it'd be fun for you to experience telluride.

Either place is good. Telluride is a little smaller and further from a large airport. United used to have a flight there in the winter, but I don't know with the changes. Frontier maybe. (By the way, Colorado has a waiting law, so I don't think you can get a quicky marriage). Either has great skiing available. Glenwood Hot Springs is near Aspen and very romantic. Skiing is better late Dec. then there tends to be a dry spell early Jan, and better end of Jan, beginning of Feb.
