Depot Bay OR
My husband and I are going for two wonderful weeks to watch the waves roll in at Depot Bay. Just wondering what other fun things there is to do around there and must see day trips.

First, get the name straight....it is Depoe Bay, not Deport Bay...pronounced the same, of course.
Whale watching is a big thing down there. The town sits above the ocean and there is not much beach compared to Newport, just a few miles away and home to a world-class aquarium.

If you like ticky-tacky, Lincoln City is an extended strip mall just to the north of Newport. Astoria is a couple of hours north but steeped in history...lots of Lewis and Clark sites including an interpretive center across the (fee) bridge in Ilwaco, Washington. If you go up to Astoria, detour into Seaside to see the promenade and the L&C statue gazing out to sea.
With two weeks in hand it would be a shame to miss the redwoods, although it means pulling up stakes and moving.

Check the website Oregon Coast Mile by Mile- might give you some ideas.
Depoe Bayhas a pod of resident whales so there is a good chance of seeing whales anytime of year.
Take a day and drive down to Florence stopping along the way. My favorite stop is at Heceta Head ( also known as Devils Elbow). Beautiful beach on a cove. Nice trail up to one of the most photographed lighthouses in the US. Beautiful place to spend a day.
Check out the Oregon Dunes around Florence. Maybe take a dune buggy ride.
Florence is a cute town with lots of shops and restaurants.
One of my favorite restaurants is the Restobar.
Spend some time in Newport. The Old Town area is a combination of touristy and real working fishing village.
Local Ocean is a favorite restaurant.
Sea lions come and lay around the docks are very entertaining.
The Old Town area is on the bay, not ocean.
Visit Agate Beach. Dinner at Nanas Irish Pub can be fun- frequently has live music.
Depot is a pretty quit little place. Check out the Tidal Raves for dinner and try for ocean view.
Enjoy your visit

Yes... We had a 3rd floor in G at Worldmark. We could sit in the living room or master and watch whales and sunsets everyday. The deck was disappointing because we also had lots of seagulls at mating time. We even had a new baby on the roof but dangerous to sit out!!! We found out that our grey whales have their own personalities and were able to name them (we were there two weeks)! We pretty much did everything that was suggested. Found an AMAZING bakery in Depot...Sea Breeze Bakery!!! We even won a bunch at the casino Lincoln!! Wonderful time and meandered down the coast to Fort Bragg....alas, then home.
