I'm not sure if you've seen the inn, but in case you hadn't...
We've never stayed there, but it is in a very pretty location. It's right along the Ellis River Trail (XCountry skiing). It's not real close to the center of Jackson, so that may be a consideration.

Twice- It's located just outside the entrance to the White Mountain National Forest. It's very nice, very quiet, no TV's in the rooms, very quaint, and the staff is quite nice as well. And yes, it sits right on the Ellis River, which is nice. I thoroughly enjoyed both of my stays there.

However, I stayed there precisely because it was convenient to the National Forest. If you want to be near town then it's a bit of a drive, but not too bad. It's just not 5 minutes away is all. If you can deal with that you'll really enjoy yourself.

Eileen: I have only seen it on the website, Although I have visited (But not stayed there) Jackson before.

My parnter and I will probably be staying there after christmas till new Year, We live in the UK and thought we would get our snow fix (As all we have in the UK at the moment is rain)
We don't mind driving into jackson so it seems like it will be a nice place to stay.
Thanks everyone for your comments.

Well, if being real close to town isn't a consideration, then you've chosen a real pretty setting. If I remember correctly, I think they have an indoor pool. Something to check out. We had lunch there one day while cross country skiing (up from Jackson village) and it was very nice. This was a lot of years ago, but I remember thinking I'd like to stay there. Again, it's a very attractive setting. Do you need more information on the area? The village has nice restaurants and No. Conway is not too far either. There are several downhill ski areas in the area and No. Conway is a nice town -- and for those that know the area, I'm not referring to the outlet area! Uggh.

I hate to be the only negative reply, however, I stayed there about 1 1/2 years ago and did not have a good experience. (Maybe it was a bad weekend for the ownwers!!) Anyway, the room I had made reservations for was not what I received and the woman working at the desk was not in any way willing to make other arrangements. Then, when I got to my room it was obvious it had not been cleaned, i.e. the bathroom had used soap in the shower and the trash cans were not emptied.
The grounds are very nice and the restaurant was excellant, they made up for the bad room experience!
Hope this helps. Like I said, maybe my experience was an isolated event, however, I did want to let you know! If you go, let me know how it turned out!

Linda,

I stayed there for a week end and had dinner there 10 years ago and have been back to lunch a number of times since then. There was an indoor pool and hot tub and the dinner in the rest. was excellent. As mentioned it's outside of Jackson but on the Ellis River xcountry trail which is one of the best most scenic trails in the area. Jackson is noted for wonderful xcountry skiing and all the area has great skiing. Try a trail called the Wave if you like rolling hills, you just get up one when there's another to greet you. It's alot of fun. There is a shuttle bus that goes from the Inn to Jackson Center ($3) that you can take so you can ski the Ellis River trail one way. We usually liked to start at the Dana Place Inn and ski back to the village, have a drink in front of the fire at the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson Center and then take the shuttle bus back to the parking at the Inn. The trail is just very slightly more downhill going back towards town but is wonderful either way.
Enjoy -
