Condo/Apt/house rental in SF
I'm starting to plan a family vacation to SF next Thanksgiving. We would be 8 adults...does anyone know of something other than hotel rooms that we could rent for a week? I would also consider a hotel that offers, say, adjoining suites or the like. I would like to stay in the city, to avoid renting a van to carry us all around. Any ideas, Fodorites? Thanks!

I have stayed twice at Cow Hollow Suites. Over 5 days is a 10% discount. We first rented a beutifully furnished and decorated two bedroom and two bath apartment with huge living/dining room, fireplace, and kitchen. It was about $249 a night and actually would sleep 8. There is a queen sleeper sofa in the living room, 2 queen size canopy beds in one bedroom and 1 queen size bed in the other. Or to be more comfortable you could get a separate one bedroom. There is free garage parking below. It is on Chestnut Street right in the heart of Cow Hollow -- a great trendy neighborhood with lots of restaurants and shops. There is a bus practically at the front door which will take you directly to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Chinatown, the Financial District, Union Square, and then ends at Market Street. They only have 12 apartments, about half are one bedroom and half are two bedroom so you need to book really early. We usually leave the car in the garage and always take the bus.

Dear Just Wondering,
Perhaps you're new to this forum. Patrick has been posting here for a long time about many places. Based on what he's said about where he lives and travels, there's absolutely no reason to think he's connected with the Cow Hollow Suites. By the way, most American travlers would think that SF means San Francisco, don't you agree?

Thanks for the vote of confidence,"not Patrick". Funny, it never occurred to me that SF was anything but San Francisco, but the other day I saw a post for NE and thought it was Nebraska till I figured out it was for New England.
Sorry, "just wondering" if I sound like a commercial. I'm often slammed for being too long winded, but I like giving details. Cow Hollow Suites is a special find, but believe me I have no connection with it or any other place I recommend.

There is a place on www.californiavacationrentals.net that looks interesting. You might also look at www.cyberrentals.com for the places in Inverness and Miramar - if you want to stay outside the city and drive in.
