Closest beach to Palm Springs, CA

We are going to Palm Springs, CA in mid-February and were wondering if there are any nice beaches nearby?

Don't know what you consider nearby since Palm Springs is in the desert. The closest beaches would be Oceanside in San Diego County or Newport Beach in Orange County. Both of them are around 100 miles and a 2 hour drive without traffic.

Feb is definitely not beach weather in So. Cal and while it could be a nice day to just walk along the beach, it could also be cold and rainy. If you want warmer weather where you can lay out then just stay in Palm Springs and enjoy the pool.

It depends on your definition of "nearby". PS is in the inland desert. Newport is about 115 miles and San Diego is about 140 miles. Other beaches between Santa Monica and San Diego will be somewhere in the same range.

Sorry - I wasn't trying to repeat info. Paula posted while I was typing but we both gave you about the same info.

Hey, thanks you guys...we're at a resort so I guess the pool there is the answer.

Again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

Are you serious? You really didn't know that Palm Springs is about 100 miles from the coast?

Actually the closest beach is at Lake Perris about 40 miles west of PSP.

RB-Don't think I would send anyone to Lake Perris if they were looking for a beach just technically you're right!!

GoTravel-I thought the same thing. Figured the poster was joking. Interesting that this is jdr's only post.

My wife and I have just started traveling and I am collecting sites that will help us. This looks a very good one! Enjoy the commentary.

jdr721442,

Since you are just starting to travel, I strongly suggest you invest in a map or two.

Since the Palm Springs valley area receives an enormous number of clear sun filled days each year, I recommend:

the Sunny Beach ;-)
