Christmas in Santa Fe, part 2

On the 26th I had to make a decision. Take a day trip out into the country, or go to a couple of more museums. What a choice! I really wanted to see the Georgia Okeeffe gallery and the Palace of the Govenors. My love for the rugged outdoors won.

I headed out for Los Alamos. I would loved to have had time there, but I pressed on.
I followed Highway 4 all through the mountains and through Jemez Springs. I enjoyed this so much.
A family of deer crossed the road in front of my car.
THen a coyote was wandering down the road. I got some good pictures of him.
It was a great day. I love driving.

On the 27th, I headed for Albuquerque. By this time, I had a rotten cold, so just checked into my motel.
I stayed at LaQuinta on San Antonio, recommened by Debi, and it was really nice. I napped for the afternoon, and then headed into town to meet ElendilPickle and Mr. Pickle and son for dinner... but I took the long way around so I'd be able to drive along Route 66 in my white Mustang!! Don't ask me why this was important.. but it was. I enjoyed it.

I met ElendilPickle and family at Las Mananitas for dinner.. really good Mexican food. Then they kindly invited me back to their home for cake and coffee. wonderful people.. we had a good time.

Friday it was time to fly home.. the end of a wonderful vacation and wonderful Christmas.
It was all I wanted it to be and more. I have to go back. There is so much still to see and do.
Beachgirl has the right idea....keep going back.

On the way to the airport, I just had to drive down Route 66 in the daylight!!

I'm glad you made it home safely! How are you feeling?

We had a great time with Kodi, and she was nice enough to treat us to dinner! But you didn't tell us about being pulled over... I've never been lucky enough to just get a warning either.

Ha-ha, I forgot to tell you that part. I was quite surprised that I just got a warning.

When I got to the airport in Albuquerque, my flight was delayed. They told me when I got to Cincinnati, I'd have to run to catch my plane to Buffalo.
And I did run! Just what I needed with feeling rotten. You know the song, "I left my heart in San Francisco" ?...well, I left my voice in Santa Fe !! And I still don't have it. It's totally gone.
So, I've had a relaxing day, only doing laundry and not much else.

Thanks again for such an enjoyable evening.

I can imagine how much fun you had kodi with LeeAnn and her family!

And now you have a cold and no voice. That is what so many seem to have in my area also. Take good care of yourself.

Your Christmas vacation adventure sounds wonderful and you certainly visited a very special area of the US!

We just missed each other, Kodi. We rolled into Santa Fe on the 27th! Darn it!

Glad you had such a good time and it sounds like it won't be your last trip here. We, too, love the chapel at Chimayo and that gorgeous drive through Jemez Springs. A little bit of heaven.

Maybe a gtg next trip?? Post your pics if you have them. I know our friend traveladdict could use a little New Mexico fix!!

Another beautiful day in Santa Fe today. 34 and sunny! Love it! I have to get ready now for our afternoon stroll and margarita fix.

Ahhh Beachgirl I thought about you. I now understand why you keep ging back.
The sunshine and clean crisp air there is literally a breath of fresh air.

I had my new camera with me, and I still have to download the software to my computer... a major job for me. IT's enough that I learned how to use the camera! But I'll figure it out when I have enough free time to take it slow. THen I'll have to figure out where to store my albums and also how to get them onto Fodor's.

Have a good trip.
