Taking my first trip to Santa Fe over Christmas and would welcome any and all suggestions of things to see and do, but more than anything; places to eat. Have read Beachgirl's posts, which are very helpful, but am wondering if there might be more current information, especially with regard to the holidays. We'll be there for five nights, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day being two of them. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi scott, glad the other posts were helpful.

We were there last Christmas and not a lot of variation with regard to activities. You can go to the Santa Fe Calendar which will offer the performances at the Lensic Theater and other holiday performances. Also, one of the favorite activities is the Christmas Eve Canyon Road walk. The street is blocked off for pedestrians only and galleries are open with wine and chimeneas burning aromatic pinon burning and luminarias along the way. Afterwards you can have a nice dinner a several places.
Go to opentable.com to see what is available. A few of my favorites for that evening and Christmas would be:

Inn of the Anasazi
Galisteo Bistro
Geronimo
La Casa Sena
(ate at all 4 in September)

I found that at Christmas Eve/Christmas the busier times were early around 6:30.

We have spent several magical Christmas holidays in Santa Fe, and are certain you will have a wonderful time. But, on one of those trips, it never got warmer than 19 degrees, and that was in the afternoon while we were watching the Christmas Day dances in the Taos pueblo.

Luminarias light the streets, sometimes there's snow, the scent of pinon wood burning in a kiva fireplace, museums, great food, walkable, hotels that are steeped in SW traditions.

Just to piggy-back on Beachgirl's comments, my wife and I had dinner at Restaurant Martin's a few weeks ago. All things considered, it's now our favorite restaurant in town.

Hearing good things about Koi; a newcomer, a non Spanish tapas style restarant in SF. Great fish, and very unusual menu for SF. Has one of the few suncset views in SF.


Had dinner at Restaurant Martin in May, excellent.

DH and I ate at La Casa Sena and loved it. We ate out in the courtyard, though, so the wonderful outdoor ambience could have contributed to our positive impression. I would guess you would be eating indoors in December.
