Cambria or Santa Barbara

Looking for your preference's between Cambria or Santa Barbara for an October weekend trip and hotel suggestions.

I think they're pretty different though both relaxing and picturesque. Santa Barbara is an easy drive from LA, has lots of nice stores on State Street, economical to sublime accommodations (motels, B&Bs, full-scale hotels, spas) and fabulous wine tasting north of downtown. Cambria is a much further drive, a small and quaint town with shops but all independents -- no Banana Republic or Victoria's Secret. A lot fewer restaurant options and a smaller choice of places to stay. Don't get me wrong, I adore Cambria and try to stay at one of the small inns on Moonstone Beach at least once a year. Heart Castle is nearby (buy tickets ahead of time). And eat at the Sea Chest (it's divine!). Cambria is very relaxed and there aren?t tons to do, but it's romantic and a slower pace. There are great wineries in Paso Robles just south of Cambria on Highway 46.
