California beach front resort

Can anyone provide some suggestions for beach front resorts in Southern Cali? We are open to the San Diego, La Jolla, Del Mar, Laguna Beach areas and anything near by. This would be for an anniversary trip, so looking for less kids more peace! Price range from 100-400$ a night.

What time of year are you coming out? Prices will be at the top end of your range or more for most of the year and you will have to shop carefully. That Ritz in Laguna Nigel has some of the best views and is a wonferful hotel!

Terranea Resort on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, one of the few (only?) with a pool for adults only.

Another one in Laguna, The Montage.

I second the recommendation for Surf and Sand. My husband planned an anniversary trip for us there a couple years ago and was offered a special unadvertised "romance" package by calling and telling the reservationist about the special occasion. Our package included private dinner for two served on the balcony of our ocean front room, as well as breakfast in the restaurant. The room, service and food were all excellent. I don't recall the exact price, but I remember thinking it was reasonable (as far as luxury hotels go). I'm not sure if they still have this type of package if you ask about it, but it's worth looking into, and Laguna Beach is a wonderful place to spend the weekend sunning and strolling through the many quaint galleries & shops. Have fun.
