Buy Jersey Boy tickets now?

We will be in NYC 4/13 &4/14 and would love to see Jersey Boys. Someone told me that on the day of show I could go to theater and buy cancellation tickets and at a reduced price. Does anybody know anything about this? Our time is limited so I would have to find out what time, etc...There are 4 of us so the 200.00 to 300.00 ticket price online is just too much. Should we try this or give up and see something else?

Getting four tickets at any price under a couple hundred each from a scalper is a real long shot. I decided in February to get tickets for May/June and had a month long of dates to try -- but there was NOTHING available other than a few "restricted view" or very back row or corner seats. I'm not sure exactly how those day of show tickets work for this particular show, but I'm willing to bet it involves standing in line for a few hours, with a slim chance of success.

I'd honestly look for something else and save this for another year (it will be playing for several I assume) or see it on a national tour -- which is starting soon.

Thank you NeoPatrick for confirming what I thought! My husband really wanted to see this, but we just do not have the time to waste for this. I am a planner and would rather have tickets in hand and a dinner reservation before we get there. He insists on a comedy. What do you think about The Producers?

We loved The Producers. It is one of my alltime favorites. Also, Avenue Q is really good. Those would be at the top of my list since Jersey Boys tickets are so expensive.

I think The Producers is a good choice. If you do decide (or for most any other show) then try for discounts. If you call Telecharge for The Producers tell them discount code "PRBBX86" for up to 49% off. That applies to any seats they have available.

Or go to www.broadwaybox.com for similar codes for many shows.
I realize you don't have a lot of time here, so good luck.

Thank you I think I will call now. I have tried repeatedly in the last 30 minutes to an hour to go through BroadwayBox.com and it will not let me buy tickets. It says I already have a session in progress or need to disable my popup blocker (I did) and I still can't get it to go on. I am going to try to find a seating chart online and then call so I will know what I am getting. I have held off making a decision b/c we really don't know what we are doing.

Hi,

My friends went to the box office on Saturday and were able to get orchestra seats (4 of them) for $130.00 each the next day Sunday for a matinee. They originally were $200-$300. I DID pay that much and it killed me but you HAVE TO SEE JERSEY BOYS, NO OTHER BROADWAY SHOW COMPARES, IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!

Oh, I am so confused. Should I wait? We do really want to see this show, but we are bringing our daughter (and her bf) for her 21st birthday. We are thinking something less this trip and Jersey Boys for us when we come back? I just don't know. Any ideas?

They are item # 290101673632. The seller has a picture of the tickets. I don't know how ebay savvy you are, but I have found that I get entirely different items by changing up the verbage when doing a search.

"I don't know how ebay savvy you are. . ."

Not very, I have learned that some items can be different depending on how you enter them, but I am surprised that when you enter Jersey Boys tickets it doesn't bring up all Jersey Boys tickets.

Meanwhile, I thought maybe that price you quoted was a "buy now" price as many of the overpriced Ebay tickets are, rather than a current bid. But I'm willing to bet you those tickets, even though they are three rows from the back of the balcony, will go for a lot more than the current $112.50 each in the next four days!

Meanwhile, don't you love the disclaimer they put?:
"New York residents: New York state law limits the resale ticket price for this event location, so your maximum bid cannot exceed $2581.00."
Nice to know they aren't allowed to gouge you for more than $645 a ticket.

I already have airline tickets, so pretty much tied to this weekend. I have much to learn before next New York trip. We have done Caribbean cruises for years. I am ready to see the world. Have done Hawaii and San Francisco, after New York, Italy. I have looked on ebay several times but have not found anything. I need to work on how to get best results.

uga, ebay is a strange duck. Recently I've been successfully buying my diabetic test strips there at about half the price I pay at Costco. But my best luck has been the "buy now ones". When I bid, it seems they always go for considerably more than those buy now prices. I don't get that.
And I looked at small LCD TV's with built in DVD players last week. I had found one model at Best Buy which is discontinued. It used to sell at $469 or so, and now it is on sale for $359. Then I went to Circuit City and found the same model -- similar price. So I was surprised to see one on Ebay with a STARTING bid of over $500 (higher than the original base price) plus $69.95 shipping -- for this same discontinued model.

Jersey Boys tickets are a challenge. I bought a pair just before the Tony Awards, and best seats booking ahead were late December halfway up the balcony. Loved the show, one of the very best we've ever enjoyed, but felt like we were watching from a seat on a ferris wheel!

A couple of months ago, I shopped the entire months of September and October for better seats (hopefully orchestra) seats. We have center orchestra row E seats on October 30th (a Tuesday).

I am loathe to pay scalper or E-Bay prices and just won't do it.

Even though your time is limited, and you may be disappointed if you don't get tickets, I urge you to get the details and try the box office. Friday/Saturday tickets are going to be tough.

This is one great show!

If you don't get to see it, definitely buy the soundtrack. Awesome!

In the alternative, check for discounts on Broadwaybox, Playbill, Theatermania, etc. There are lots of really good shows.

Just some insight, my client just asked me for four tickets to Jersey Boys for 4/12.

$500/ticket from a broker.

Don't know if that helps.....

Neo,

To further your point, now I can't even find the ones I told you about last night!! I was trying to help UGA out but oh well. I think from reading your other posts that you and I are going to be in NY at the same time. I am from South GA so if you see someone that looks cold AND lost, say hello!

" if you see someone that looks cold AND lost, say hello!"

But that won't leave any time for doing anything else!!! Everyone in New York looks cold and lost.

I just found those tickets by entering the item number the same way I found them last night. But I couldn't find them last night or today with all the other Jersey Boy tickets -- very strange.

Did you mean you and I at the same time -- or you and uga? I'll be there from May 13 to June 13. By the way, I spent two summers teaching and acting at UGA -- does that make me an honorary bulldog?

Thanks guys for all the help. I called Telecharge and using the discount code NeoPatrick gave me got really good seats for 61.50. Thank you, btw. I feel real good about the seats and the price, and about our plans being made! Now I need to make dinner reservations. I can't decide wine and tapas before and dinner after or the other way around. I love this site. It is where all my good advice is coming from. Great price on show tickets, discount coupons for Top of the Rock. lovetolaugh, I know I will be cold and lost! I am trying to figure out what to wear. Yes, NeoPatrick, you have to be a Bulldog fan after time in Athens. Isn't it great?! Any more advice for my trip will be greatly appreciated.
