Bucks County PA to Eastport Maine

Hello,

Looking for suggestions for a road trip starting in Bucks County, PA with destination of Eastport, Maine to visit family. I don't have dates yet definitely will be in the Spring or later don't want a ski trip. I would like to stop for a night on the way there and one night on the way back - prefer different locations want to see as much as we can. Would like to limit driving to 6hours in a day.

Also, if you have suggestions for where to stay in/around Eastport that is also welcome.

Thanks so much.

Amesbury MA is your halfway point at about 6 hours.
Are you driving your own car? If you were driving a rental, I would consider taking the train to Boston and driving a rental from there.

I would head for Rockport, MA for a night in one direction. It is a pretty, artsy village on the coast and a bit over six hours from your starting/ending point.

In the other direction maybe stop in Portsmouth, NH. Nice small city.

We did a similar road trip from DC to Eastport for our honeymoon years ago. We stopped on the way home in Providence, RI and stayed downtown. We timed it to be there for FireWater, a cool event they have every few weekends starting in late spring in which they light fires all up and down the river in big metal baskets- people rent paddle boats and kayaks and paddle around, there are food vendors, music, etc. Sort of an artsy, cool evening (I think RISD faculty might have started the tradition.)

We also enjoyed a night in Portland, Maine on the way up. Very cute town with great eating!
