Most shows have a Wednesday afternoon matinee (2pm).

Go to the Ticket Booth at Times Square around 9:00 AM for cheap tickets!

Great Broadway Show perk...

Go to the World Trade Center, Building 2 for heavily-discounted seats! They start selling tickets at 11:30am for matinees and night shows, often at 50% or greater off for excellent seats! My wife and I travel at least once a year to NYC for these shows, and we always get great seats for the shows we want. Added Bonus: We often make new friends with common interests while sitting in line!

The NYers all go here, realizing the selection is great and the remaining unsold tickets go to Times Square for the tourists! Be forewarned - the lines grow fast after 11am, so get here by 10:30.

Enjoy! And keep this secret to yourselves - HA!

Be advised that the ticket booths at Times Square and World Trade Center (hardly a secret) do not sell discounted tickets for all shows. The shows vary day by day. So if you have your heart set on a particular show, it may not be the best idea. If you don't care if your tickets are discounted or not, just go to the box office of the show you want first thing in the morning. Theaters tend to hold seats open just for that purpose. I have done this for supposedly sold out shows, and have gotten fabulous seats (I am very picky about where I sit in a theater). Have a great time. There is such a selection of shows to choose from.
