Branson-where to stay

Planning a Branson trip in mid to late july. Where is the best place to stay with 2 small children? We would like a good centrally located condo/hotel close to golf and whatever else we will be doing/seeing. I've not been since I was a kid (1975 or so). Not even sure what we will be doing!! We are really not into the country music scene but just need a few days away from the office. Thanks!!

You have a dilemma. If you want centrally located, you will be on the strip (Hwy. 76), which inherently means you will be on the country music scene.

Another issue - what is your budget? If price is no option, I would suggest Big Cedar Lodge (if they have anything available). It is a resort with dining, entertainment, and outdoor activities, and it is right next to Top of the Rock Golf Course, which is supposed to be one of the best in the area (I'm not a golfer).

Big Cedar is a good idea, but the Top of the Rock golf course is not located near the cabin/hotel lodging at Big Cedar. The golf course is a few miles away.

You might try Thousand Hills. They have condos located on the golf course. If you have a map, they are located south of The Grand Palace.

There's also a nice golf course/lodging community across from the Welk Theatre (I think that's the theatre!). It's a Marriott or some other name brand. Sorry, I can't think of the name right now.........but the condos are located ON the golf course.

All of these locations are close to the main action. If you just want a fantastic hotel, check out Chateau on the Lake. It's a John Q Hammons hotel located ON Table Rock Lake, out by the dam. It's beautiful.

Good Luck,

Marla

OK, ozres, Top of the Rock is less than a 10 minute drive to Big Cedar. In the Ozarks, we call that "next to". There is a reciprocal agreement between the two and you can get packages at Big Cedar that include golf at Top of the Rock.

Hi Beckers,

I agree, that's "next to" in my neck of the woods, too. I just wanted Bellman to understand that you can't walk out of your Big Cedar cabin and onto the golf course. Personally, I'd stay at Big Cedar any day over the condos in Branson that are located ON the golf course. Although, I did surprise DH with a birthday night at the Thousand Oaks cabins near Tanger Outlet once. Thousand Oaks log cabins are just as beautiful as Big Cedar, but they don't have all the stuffed animals on the wall! You don't have that nice lake view either.

I've just been informed we need to be close to silver dollar city. How is stonebridge? Any place better? Which is best the cabins or condos? We don't want to spend a fortune but we do want someplace nice with a kitchen and two bedrooms. thanks!
