Best place to watch Super Bowl in New Orleans?

I'm going to be in New Orleans Super Bowl weekend. I've been to the city many times and know there is not a plethora of sports bars. Where would you recommend we watch the big game?

If you are a Patriots fan and they end up going, I recommend 45 Tchoup uptown. Owner Debbie is a Boston girl, great atmosphere, very friendly, around the corner from Dick and Jenny's.

Thanks. I'm from Miami and a devout Dolfan. Really just want a good place to watch the game, drink, and I guess that will be our dinner spot that night, too. So, the food should be decent.

Anyone else?

Yeah, I remembered that after I posted. We went there a few years ago for a Canes game. Ideally, I would like place with better food, but I know that might be our best bet. Thanks for the suggestion. Anyone else have another idea?

We watched the Saints-Falcons game at Turtle Bay on Bourbon Street. Very decent bar food.

We also watched misc parts of bowl games in the bar area of Arnaud's Remoulade's Cafe, also on Bourbon. Food was very good.

That's a sad life to lead now.

I'm thinking there are worse places to go than Remoulade or Turtle Bay. IIRC, I watched the Alabama-Miami game at Turtle Bay years ago when we couldn't get tickets to the Sugar Bowl. It was lively during commercials, bonkers during the game.

ust about every bar in NOLA has a TV.

Here's a link to cheap drinks in NOLA.

http://www.neworleansdrinkspecials.com/current.php

Crescent City Brewhouse is probably the best place in the FQ to watch sports. They have plenty of TV's on second floor.

Crescent City Brewhouse @ 527 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 522 - 0571.
http://www.crescentcitybrewhouse.com/

Johnny White's is a true sports bar. Turtle Bay is a sports bar also. Chateau Moanet Voila Bar is a sports bar. Broussard's has TV's in their bar and from time to time they have specials to eat and watch the game. Huck Finn's is a nice sports bar on Decatur. Antoine's Herme's Bar has food and TV's.

Johnny White's Sports Bar @ 720 Bourbon St., New Orleans, LA 504 - 524 - 4909.

Antoine's @ 713 Saint Louis St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 581 - 4422.

Go to the corner of Bienville and Decatur. Club Decatur or Ryan's Irish Pub have TV's but neither is a sports bar. Both are great places to watch games with a lot of big screen TV's. Duck into one and then the other and decide which one your like.

Call the Carousel Bar at The Monteleone I think they have TV's. It's smoke free. Coop's Place is also smoke free and has plenty of TV's.

Carousel Bar @ Hotel Monteleone| @ 214 Royal St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 523 - 3341.

Coops Place @ 1109 Decatur St., New Orleans, LA. 504 - 525 - 9053.
http://www.coopsplace.net/

Huck Finn's is a great sports bar on Decatur.

Huck Finn's @ 135 Decatur, New Orleans, LA 504 - 529 - 8600.

Walk across Canal on N Peters and go W on S Peters 4/5 blocks to the corner of Lafayette and S Peters to Ernst Cafe which is over 100 years old for good happy hour. They have outdoor tables. Ernst's has 2 # crawfish plates for $5.00 on Friday's. When you leave Ernst's go W a block to Girod and go N 2 blocks to Lucy's Bar on Tchoupitoulas for a good 4 to 7 happy hour and $2.50 beer. Grand Isle is a fine seafood restaurant and raw bar a block S of Ernst's on Fulton.

Lucy's Bar @ 701 Tchoupitoulas St., New Orleans, LA 504 - 523 - 8995.

Ernst Cafe @ 600 South Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 525 - 8544.

Poppy's is a great sports bar in Spanish Plaza near the river that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Go early and get a head start.

Poppy's Time Out Sports Bar and Grill @ 1 Poydras Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 247 - 9265.

Gordon Biersch is a Brew Pub in CBD near the FQ. It's NW of The Hilton near the Convention Center and Harrah's Casino offering outstanding drinks and food for lunch and dinner. There are 5 Big Screen TV's. They have a Happy Hour Special Monday/Friday from 4 PM to 6:30 PM with special prices on appetizers and drinks.

Walk On's is a new sports bar on Poydras a few blocks S of the Super Dome.

Markey's is a dive in By Water. You will need a cab but it's got plenty of TV's and local cajuns to visit with.

Markey's Bar @ 640 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 504 - 943 - 0785.

For future reference the best sports bar in NOLA is Finn McCool's in Mid City. Take the Canal Street Streetcar to S Jefferson Parkway. Get off and walk 3 blocks N to Telemachus Street. Turn left by Grace Episcopal Church and walk 3 blocks to Banks Street. Finn McCool's is on the right.

Finn McCool's Irish Pub @ 3701 Banks St., New Orleans, LA 504 - 486 - 9080.
http://www.finnmccools.com/

Also for future reference. Take a cab Uptown to Cooter Brown's for another one of the best sports bar's and fine fresh oysters. Take the St. Charles Street Streetcar to S Carrollton. Get off and walk a block to your left towards the river. Ye Old College Inn is also a good place to watch the game and get good food and cold drinks. St. Charles Tavern is open 24/7 and they just remodeled the joint. They have a nice HH from 2/6 every day for 2/1 well drinks and $1.25 drafts.

Wow, Littleman! Thanks for your comprehensive post. Some great new places in there for us to try. it's been a while since we've been to Cooter's. Is it right off the St. Charles Street Car at
Riverbend, just across from Camillia Grill?

Yeah, BigRuss, it's tough to be a Dolfan these days. At least we got a new coach today. Not a great one, but at least we have one now.

I was hoping the Saints would make it again. They had a good run.
