Batista's Hole in The Wall. It right across a side street near Ballys and is our 1st nights meal every time we are there. All kinds of celebrity memerobila(sp), great house wine served with meals, garlic bread is out of this world also. Every entre I have had there is fantastic.

Seconds on Canaletto. They were very accomodating in making a meal currently off menu. Also, I can't remember the name of the hotel, but down the street from the Stardust, just past the old Debbie Reynolds/WWF hotel/casino (on the same side) is an excellent restaurant. Fantastic service.

I'd like to give "havkhones" a little support by saying that I also enjoyed Battista's, and I've eaten there two or three times. The place is so, well, Italian that it's funny, the food is terrific, and you don't have to go to the bank and take out a dinner loan to eat there. Enjoy your trip!

Yes, Vinny, since you asked, I do happen to be of Italian descent, and I really enjoyed Battista's. And to "no way": comparing the food at Battista's to the crud sold by Chef Boy-ar-dee is just plain stupid.
Let's face it; everyone has their own opinions. I've even had recommendations from good friends who know my tastes fairly well that I've found extremely disappointing--you never know what someone else will think of a restaurant, book, or movie that you recommend, which is why I find it so amazing that so many people on this site are willing to let total strangers advise them on hotels, restaurants, activities, etc. Such advice may be useful to a point (such as warning people about nightmare experiences with Priceline or something of that nature), but a personal opinion on a specific facility is practically useless. The person offering their opinion may have tastes and priorities that differ completely from your own, and what strikes them as wonderful may make you want to strangle them for recommending a place to you. I know I've felt that way, and I'll admit that the person I was really upset with was myself, for being too trusting of someone else's opinion and trying a place that turned out to be a major disappointment to me and my husband.
You were right about one thing, Vinny: to each his own . . .
