Best beach, driving from Atlanta

I want to do a beach vacation at an uncrowded, child friendly beach this spring - I have a 3 year old and a 4 month old. We like nature and quiet, and don't have a big budget. Are the gulf beaches back to normal? We've done condos in St. Augustine, St. George, Panama City, and St. Simons, and kind of want to try something new.

Or - where is your favorite child-friendly place to vacation, within reasonable driving distance of Atlanta (under 8 hours or so)?

I wouldn't go to a northern Florida Atlantic beach before late April or early May if I planned to go in the water.

You need the west coast. Anna Maria?

Indian Pass, Cape San Blas area if you want "uncrowded...nature and quiet". Rentals are the best option there.

Gulf beaches back to the new normal.

We like Gulf Shores or Orange beach.

Pawley's island SC, north of Charleston. You don't say when but before June, maybe May, you'll maybe want access to a pool also.

Adding, just up the road from Pawley's/Litchfield is Huntington bEach for nature walks, etc. And not too far up are the miniature golf courses in Surfside. It's good for a day with the kids.

cant imagine a more desolate beach than St George that has condos---but its cool that time of year.We like going to Cocoa Beach when its cool in Panhandle--not so desolate but very nice, and plenty of cheap condos

I second Indian Pass/Cape San Blass. Appalachicola, FL is a great town nearby and the area is not crowded. It's very laid back and quiet.

Looking to get away from crowded beaches? Head to Seabrook Island or Kiawah. You'll be far away from the crowds but a car drive away from historic Charleston.

On Seabrook, look for Pelican Watch Villas. While technically, these are located on the river, your children will never know. A quick and easy walk to get to and from your villa.

Other villa associations to consider (they be more room than you need), Spinnaker, Atruim (a condo *hi-rise* building), Sealoft, and North Beach Cottages.

Over on KI, you can't beat Inlet Coves, Greenslake, and Sparrow Ponds.

You could get a good price at Harbor island neat Beaufort SC. Plenty of condos available. It would be quiet.
