Best BBQ - Bennett's, Corky's or Calhouns?

My vote is for Corky's...Don't remember if they chop or pull their pork, but it is so gooooooood.
It has been many many years since I have eaten at Calhoun's and as I remember I liked it very much.
Forget Bennett's.
BTW, snowrooster, where did you end up getting your reservations???

You didn't ask, but the best BBQ we've ever had (pulled pork)is Interstate BBQ in Memphis. The sauce alone is to die for. My husband has been on a lifelong quest to find the world's best BBQ and we think we can stop.

I've tried both Bennett's and Calhouns. Personally, I prefer Bennets for the atmosphere, salad bar and the food. Some people have complained about being sick from Bennett's food. I have eaten there on several occasions and it has never happened to me. I like their ribs, barbecued chicken and steaks.
Calhoun's, on the other hand, seems just a bit too contrived for my liking. It's hard to take any barbecue restaurant seriously that constructs fake mill wheels outside of the restaurant.

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. Linda0515 - I have a spot for you to try in your quest. Smokehouse in South Carolina (a couple of locations) - great pulled pork and their spicy sauce is wonderful. BTW, I live in Cincinnati so I'm not just pushing my hometown favorite (sadly we have no particularly great pulled pork here, but great brisket at BBQ Review).
Looks like we'll give Corky's a shot. Regarding lodging, we are renting a cabin called Afternoon Delight through Timber Tops. I looked at many but like their several price tiers which allow you to get exactly what you want for your money.

I showing up a bit late, but here goes!
I love Corky's! Best BBQ in Memphis to me.
BUT...if you have it shipped, it will not taste the same. (My experience twice.) The ribs were soggy/mealy and bland...must be the dry ice.
When I moved from Mem. to Cincinnati my dad sent an order to me a couple of times. Never told him how disappointing it was since it was my B-day gift.
Sticky Fingers in Charleston,S.C is great too! Reminds me of corky's.

OK, so like I live less 5 minutes from Corkys. And I used to be pretty excited about that.
They're still pretty good but they aren't what they once were, at least to my tastes. The sauce or the dry rub seasonings are still the same, but I can taste a difference in the meat from what they were serving a couple of years ago. Not nearly as fresh tasting.
Actually, for BBQ the native Memphians (of which I'm not one, but I've been here a while) most all swear by Rendezvous. How many people that said "Corkys?? No, No Rendezvous!" when I asked around would surprise you.

iceeu2 - We are going next Wednesday (9/17) and will be driving 75N from Cincinnati. I would LOVE to know of some good BBQ along the way. My inlaws have a summer home in LaFollette on Norris Lake so we drive this route often We really likes Sonny's (I think it's in Corbin, KY) - great pulled pork, bbq sauces, and garlic toast!!

I've been to the Rendezvous twice. The first time I was blown away; the second time everyone in my family was disappointed; the ribs were dry and really not very flavorful. I really hope we were there on an off night and that quality hasn't deteriorated.

Good lord, avoid Corky's! I have no clue what they put in the bbq that hypnotizes people! If you can, try for Interstate (at the minimum, the sauce) or rendezvous. Yes, they have their 'off nights', but those 'off' ribs are still better than Corky's best. I lived in Memphis for years and never understood the Corky's mystique!! (of course, i lived 2 blocks from Rendezvous...)
