Belfast, ME lodging suggestions?
We are going to spend 4 days in Acadia NP in Sept. On our way south toward PA(home) we thought we would stop overnight in Belfast. Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay? It is just my husband and I and we prefer to keep the cost under $200 per night. Thanks for any suggestions.

Why did you choose Belfast as a stop if you're going all the way to PA? I would think that something in Southern Maine would be a better choice. Were you planning on some antique-ing?
At any rate, I wouldn't expect to pay anywhere near $200 in September in the Belfast area. A cottage at Colonial Village or a room at the Belfast Harbor Inn or the Comfort Inn Ocean's Edge should run you closer to $85, tops. I would prefer the High Tide Inn a bit further south, near Camden.

I agree with joesorce, Belfast is okay for a quick visit, but the Camden area is much nicer. We stayed at the Captain Lindsey House in Rockland and liked it very much. But I think overall, Camden is a prettier town.

I suppose I wasn't very clear. Although our final destination is PA for Sun, MA is our half way stop on Sat. I thought Belfast might be a good stop because we could stay longer at Bar Harbor to enjoy the food/wine festival starting on Friday and not have to drive as far as Camden to sleep.
