Bamakelly and others - Atlanta GTG?

How many Fodorites are in driving distance of Atlanta or Chattanooga and who might be interested in a GTG?

Hmmm...Atlanta is still a bit of a drive for me, especially with a baby to find care for. Birmingham or Nashville would be easier for me. I don't want to be the determining factor, though. Y'all go ahead and plan it, and I will try my best to be there, I promise!

I'm sorry, but please help me. What is GTG?? Also what does it mean when someone posts "ttt".

Thanks for the info.

GTG is a "get together" where Fodorites in the same gernal geographic location meet for drinks, dinner, good conversation. TTT means "to the top" --every time you post something it gets moved to the top of the list on the left side. If, say, you started a post about an Atlanta GTG, and no one has responded in awhile, you could put TTT and it gets moved back to the top of the list, therefore making it more apparent to anyone who is just now reading Fodors for the day. Get it?

Thank you Bamakelly so much for deciphering that for me. That makes so much sense. I wish I had asked sooner. I am from Birmingham, Al and a relatively new Fodorite. How about you??

I consider B'ham my 2nd home! I have lived in many places throughout Florida and Alabama, but B'ham is the place I lived longest and is where I was most established, career-wise and socially. I met my husband there! We have since moved to South Florida and then to Huntsville, which is where I live now. I still go to Birmingham often, as my in-laws and any friends are there.

I taught at Homewood HS and have lived in Cahaba Heights, Hoover, and Homewood. Good to meet you!

Sorry--I meant my in-laws and my friends. "any friends" sounds strange doesn't it?! Man, my typos are bad. I really must start proofing before posting! Ha!

Where are you starrsville? I am 90 miles north of Atlanta and 30 miles south of Chattanooga. So.........I could do either location depending on dates of course.

I'm all over the place. I'm on the road every week and come home to roost in either the NE corner of GA or or the metro area. Actually, I'm out Ira's way.

I mentioned Chattanooga because I thought it would be good for bamakelly and Fodorites in Tennessee.

In other words, just about any location for a GTG would be good for me.

I think there a quite a few North Atlantan Fodorites if I read the clues correctly. Maybe someplace on the north side of Atlanta? Cumming?

Or the Blue Willow is mentioned so often, maybe we could trek there for some great Fried Green Tomatoes (Social Circle)

Again, I don't care at all.

The sage of this forum. He usually "hangs out" on the Europe forum.

He's concise, knowledgeable and always a gentlemen.

Hmmmm....perhaps he's the Anti-Travdis.

Bamakelly and mamabryant--

Maybe we could gather up enough Alabamians to have a GTG in a convenient location.
We live in Demopolis, but we also consider Birmingham our second home, since both our children live there.

And I went to Birmingham-Southern, worked as a reporter for the Birmiingham News, and we met and married in Birmingham (all a long time ago)!Maybe Fairhope and some of the south Alabamians would be interested...

Well, it looks like there's no interest in a Georgia GTG but strong interest in an Alabama GTG. Can this sad Georgian tag along?

We could meet on a Tuesday night and have a GO BO / Fodors combination party. Funny, I was cheering "Go Bo" about 20 years ago in Jordan-Hare too....

The 21st Century chant "Go Bo" is for Bo Bice, one of the front runners in this year's "American Idol" competition.

And even though I went to AU, some of my best friends went to Tuscaloosa. Some have even been released
