Auto-Europe charge for car and fuel we didn't use
we hired a car from auto Europe for our holiday in Florida. We needed a six seater and received confirmation. When we got to the airport the car we had hired was not large enough. It was a car we were unfamiliar with so we had assumed it was large enough for our stated requirements. The rental company hertz didn't have any cars large enough so we cancelled and rented elsewhere. Neither auto Europe or hertz will refund us and to add insult to injury they gave just charged us for a tankful of fuel they are refusing to refund.

You have to tell us more...
What means the car was not large enough? what were you expecting, and what did you exactly book?
Six seater doesn't always mean that it has space for 6 persons plus 6 suitcases plus 6 hangbags....
Hertz confirmed a certain cartype to you, did you read the description?
I believe that you have to tell us more about it

You just "assumed" the car would be big enough? I believe there are descriptions and diagrams of the autos on their website. Why blame the agency when you are the one who did not do the proper research?

When renting a car you have to look at the classes of cars as sown by the agency. they show pictures of the car and how many people and how much luggage it will hold.
Thinking that a normal sedan will hold 6 people is simply not true. And there is no way that it will hold the luggage. If you have 6 people and luggage for 6 you will need some sort of minivan or super sized SUV that is meant to hold 9 people - so there will be room for 6 plus luggage. If this isn't what you rented - then - no - the vehicle won;t be big enough. And if you paid in advance to get a super low rate - then you are out the money.
Did they offer to find you a larger vehicle for a higher price if you gave them time? (If they don;t have one on the lot there's not a lot they can do.)

How many times are you going to post this? (The OP didn't rent from them 2 years ago. He topped someone else's 2 year old thread to post this same complaint)
And, why is it on the Europe forum if you were in Florida?
If your rental was refundable -- then dispute it w/ your credit card. If it wasn't refundable, you rented the wrong class of car and it is your fault . . .

Sounds like Rymer is another scammer, just out for some fun at Auto Europe expense.
Having rented from AE on numerous occasions since at least the early 90's, we've never had a problem, including receiving a refund because the car we booked wasn't available when we arrived and ended up using a smaller sedan (a full refund on the one-week rental, without having to ask). We've also had them deliver cars from one city to another (Barcelona to San Sebastian and Bordeaux to Pau) that a client wanted with no additional delivery fee.
Unlike other agencies, if you work with them, or Kemwel, you can usually get the specific car you want if it's available.

100+ AutoEurope rentals here and never had a problem. It's not like you can't go online, see the exact configurations of the car and figure out how many people and luggage items it can hold - you don't just say "I need a car for six people."

I never rent from a broker, always find better deals directly with the car companies. The rules are right on the autoeurope website. I knew that they charged you for a full tank of gas. And they probably have a note that you must cancel with autoEurope, not with Hertz, or there will be no refunds.
