Attn: Owners of Embassy Vacation Resorts Poitu Point
My husband and I are renting a 2 bedroom condo for a week not through the hotel but through a company that handles unused/unsold timeshare weeks and are wondering if the following are provided or do we furnish our own:
toilet paper and kleenex
bars of soap
coffee filters
detergent for dishes,laundry,dishwasher ??
We will not have maid service during our week but other than that the company we're renting from doesn't know much more. Appreciate it if you know the answers.

Marcie, Sounds kinda fishy that the company you're renting from can't tell you what's included or not. There might be more than one company that rents out the timeshares and they might not all include the same amenities. I bokked a unit through the hotel/resort and it was like staying in a hotel, where soap/shampoo/towels were included. You could exchange your towels every day if needed, but only once a week they would change the linens and vacuum. There was soap for the dishwasher but not for the clothes washer. And, yes, there were coffee filters in my unit. Toilet paper was included but can't remember if there was Kleenex. Like I said, this was all through the hotel. I would pressure your rental company into providing more details for you. You shouldn't have to pack more than necessary!

Mel, actually this is a very reputable company, it's just that when I asked that question they said they had never been asked this before and the owner (if there is one) is unknown. They're kind of like a clearing house of sorts. I do know that maid service is available mid-week for a cost of $25 (probably won't even need) but I'd like to be able to swap towels from time to time and pack as light as possible. We got a rock bottom price without the usual frills available if we'd rented from the hotel.

Marcie, each timeshare is different, but usually they provide you with enough of that stuff to get you started. The best place to ask your question is at the Timeshare Users Group BBS @ www.tug2.net Ask under the Hawaii portion, I'm certain someone there has stayed there. Or go to www.rci.com which is the exchange company that probably handles that resort. Look under *resort directory* Enjoy your stay.

Stayed there a couple years ago in the 2 bedroom and it was fabulous (as you probably have seen). Mel is right, you will probably get a starter kit, but we always take our own coffee and filters, plus clothes detergent--essentials for us! PS--Not a swimmable beach, but sea turtles on the rocks in the mornings.
