Yes. The location is great (Central Park South near 7th Avenue).
The hotel closed briefly about five months ago when it was purchased by some group that planned to strip the St. Moritz back to its skeleton and re-christen it as super-luxury coops. The plan fell through at the last minute, and the hotel was purchased and re-opened in, I think, late May. Because all bookings has been cancelled when the hotel closed (the furnishings were within a day of being auctioned off), the St. Moritz offered some excellent rates for a while. That has probably changed.
But the hotel has always been nice. It is probably a little frayed around the edges, given that it was in limbo for so long. I'd have no hesitation about staying there, especially with kids.

I stayed there last Nov. The rooms are very small and VERY dated - they tend to cater to Europeans. I stayed one night and checked out. I really thought it was terrible. If you are only concerned about location and price then it's OK. I would not go back - especially with children.
