I don't know if many people here will know details on this, but here goes...

Bon Jovi is performing at the MGM Grand in April and my dad is going to try and get a ticket for me. He isn't what I would call a high roller, but we go out there a couple times a year and he builds up enough points to usually get some comps on his room. BTW, he has an MGM/mirage card.

We have spoke a couple of times on the phone with a representative but they don't seem to always have anwers. The last thing they said was we would have to pay for the ticket and they told us all the price ranges. What I really want is a very close seat (like say, first 10 rows) and if I have to pay for it thats fine.

Does anyone here have any experience with this? I'm wondering if only the serious high rollers get the close seats. Anyway, we are suppose to call them again this week and see if they know more. Sorry that got long, thanks for any help/info.

I don't have any info on this specific concert - but my daughter's best friend is involved in this business, and according to her there are 2 ways to get the tickets right up front.

If you know someone associated with the group or the venue they can get them for you for free (but naturally get a lot more requests than they can fulfill).

Or, you can get them from a scalper at a very high price.

I would think you would have to be a VERY high roller indeed to get tickets in the first couple of rows comped.

Even if your Dad is gambling several thousand a day minimum, I would just buy the tickets, especially if you have your heart set on going to the concert.

If you really want the tickets, buy them on your own, right now.

The typical situation for someone in your father's position is that he can call the players club at the MGM Grand (I'm assuming he does not have a host) and ask for tickets. They will take his info or refer him to the box office. In either case you won't have a lot of input as to where the seats are.
If you want to take a big chance (and gamble a lot) you can inquire about tickets through the players club once you get there and have them charged to your room. Are you going to be staying at the MGM Grand or a related property? If you play enough (and charge them to your room), the tickets can be comped after the fact.

I investigated this when Justin Timberlake was at Mandalay Bay (some casino group as MGM Grand) over Labor Day weekend and found it a lot easier to just buy the tickets myself. I do play enough to get rooms and shows comped and they were happy to arrange for tickets for me, but they couldn't promise me where the seats would be.

I agree with the information that has been shared.

I would just buy the ticket - it does not sound like your Dad spends enough time/money there to warrant a free ticket - esp. in the first few rows. Those seats will be a pretty penny for Bon Jovi.

I checked on Stub hubs as I am also a huge Bon Jovi fan (going in April in Orange County right before he is in Vegas) - the seats on stub hub are going for 919.00 to 3,000.00 currently in the area you are speaking of.

Btw, I have been to almost every tour of Bon Jovi and he generally will try to play to much of the audience - he often will come out in the back on the floor et. He is an amazing performer who loves what he is doing. A joy to watch.

What's the appeal of the first several rows? The music is too loud, the sweat running down, you can see how bad the make-up is...

Thanks for the replies everyone. And to the person who was telling me what a great show they put on, believe me I know! I saw them at 4 different venues on the HAND tour, and I've already seen them twice on this tour. So I'm a huge fan, I travel all over to see them.

As to buying the tickets myself, it sounds like everyone is in agreement on that. The problem is I don't want to pay high scalper prices for a good seat, and of course all of the great seats are already gone. So I was hoping the casino could get me a close seat that I would pay face value for. At least now I know not to get my hopes up. We're calling the casino tomorrow and if they can't tell me where our seats will be (IF I get a ticket) then we probably just won't go.

Such fun - I saw him for the first time when I was 19 on his first tour . He was not much older LOL

Now at 40 I am still a huge fan.

I do not see how you are going to get around paying scalpers prices - good luck and let us know. I see him a few nights before

My dad called today and they offered him 2 free tickets to the show! I don't know yet where the seats will be, he said they will assign them the day of the show. But who cares, because I'm seeing them for free!

So, I guess the players card/comps thing panned out after all.
