Allerton hotel, chicago
We've booked and paid for three nights in the Allerton Hotel, N. Michican Ave, Chicago. A quick look on the web in the past few days tells me that that hotel is in foreclosure. I've sent an email to the hotel AND to the booking site we used, asking if our reservations still stands. NO REPLY. Should we be getting nervous? Can anyone tell us if the hotel is still open????

I pass the Allerton daily, there are no signs that anything has changed since the foreclosure was filed in April.
The foreclosure is merely a tool by the debtholders to gain control of the property in an effort to get back the money they're owed. As a vacant hotel is worth much less than one that's operating and generating revenue, all the parties involved will make every effort to keep it open until everything is settled.

We stayed there this past Thursday and Friday nights and all seemed as I would expect of a normally operating hotel. Although I just did a quick search and saw the same info about the foreclosure...

Thanks all for your replies. The internet company I used for the booking replied to me a couple of days ago. They've assured me all is ok, and IF anything does go wrong, they will arrange accommodation for us at no extra cost! Now all we have to worry about is the flooding!!!!!

Most flooding was outside the central city in the western suburbs and was because the sewer system wasn't able to handle the massive amounts of rain the area received on Saturday.
The flooding in the city was mostly at low-lying underpasses. The only effect you're likely to see is closure of some of the beaches because of high bacteria levels.
