Albany, NY - Can you recommend a very nice hotel, inn, or B&B?

Looking for any personal recommendations. Please let me know your experiences. Can be in Albany or close by.
Thank you.

You'd probably be better off at a b&b around Saratoga Springs, which is fairly close by.

The Omni is right in the center of Albany and is well located, but a generic hotel.

The Marriott in Albany is nice -- but also pretty generic. The Desmond is also nice -- inside (and out) looks like a Colonial village. Rooms are pretty spacious. Good restaurant.

I agree if you're looking for a b&b try Saratoga 20 - 30 minutes north on Rt 87.

I can't think of any B&B's in Albany itself, and the former Omni in downtown Albany is now a Crowne Plaza. When important out-of-town guests visit our company, we always put them up at the Desmond. It's unique, close to the airport, it has a good restaurant and it has every chain restaurant you can think of nearby. There's not much exciting nightlife in downtown Albany (Crowne Plaza)if that's a consideration. There are lots of cute b&b's in Saratoga (no personal experience with them, though), and it's also a nice walking-around town. Saratoga is 35 minutes from Albany. My in-laws live there and we do the drive all the time.
