A question for women...
I get 4 weeks vacation time per year. This is great, I love it! Only problem is most of my friends and my fiance only get about a week each. Leaving me to waste the vaca time or travel alone. I have no problems traveling with a group of women and I know there are such groups. I am in my late twenties and I'm looking for some recs on traveling groups consisting of primarily women.
Any suggestions?

hey, stag, haven't seen the other thread so this may be listed there but I recently saw an add for "Adventure Women" in the back of Cooking Light. Web site: www.adventurewomen.com; phone is 800-804-8686.
I've also heard of a biking company...something like off roads or all trails...they do lots of tours and may do tours jut for women. The tours are supposed to be absolutely wonderful...very luxe, but also very pricey. You can do any level and choose between biking, hiking, or multi-sport. Sorry I can't be more specific on the name.
Also, you might try looking at journeywoman.com...I think they're once of the sites that was purchased by the Oxygen network.
Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

reiadventures.com has excellent "non-touristy" small group tours all over the world.
The groups are primarily women (only 1-2 guys per trip on the three trips I've taken).
I plan to take an REI trip to Antarctica by myself someday, since I can't find anyone else who will go!
Another very fun option is Club Med. Many people go there alone. There are adults-only CM resorts in Cancun and Turks & Caicos. I came back from my last trip there exhausted...there was so much fun stuff to do. I loved the trampoline, sailing (I had never done it on my own before) and water polo. The funny thing is, people think that CM is a crazy, wild pary scene, and it's really not! But it is very social, that's why people go on their own.

I was in a similar position 10 years ago so I started traveling solo. It's wonderful. It's almost the only way I travel now. Don't miss out on this experience. I wish more women would do it. The key, especially starting out, is to head to a city. A european city is great. Very easy to meet people. Enjoy!

Hi:
I've done the solo thing 2 times and I went to the very touristy Bahamas (Paradise Island) but what I did learn while doing research before the trip is a little known experience called "People to People".
Certain islands have the program and you just have to call one of the island's tourist board offices in the states to get more info. The experience was great, I had lunch at the Govenor's mansion in Nassau then met my family contact which turned out to be a Ferry Boat driver. I had a blast going out on the water with the driver and his students. It was a great way to meet contacts and see the island thru native eyes.

I would check out Away.com they have great ideas for off beaten adventures and group travel. A spa vacation is great, and you can choose to do many different activities. Some of the better ones...Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires, Scottsdale Princess in AZ, and I also took a trip with a girlfriend to Telluride. However I did alot of the activities on my own, mountain biking, fly fishing, hiking etc and the views are breathtaking. I highly recommend vacationing alone once in awhile.

I too have this problem! A great website I recently found was www.women-traveling.com They are jsut like what you indicated. They ofer probably 50 trips a year, everything from long weekends to transatlantic cruises, to multicountry treks thru Europe. These trips limit the number of people to under 25 (all women) stay in great hotels and you get some free time an dsome group time. It caters to people like us (either single, married hubby doesn't like to travel, and some of the trips are for "mature women" who are widowed). I haven't booked with them yet but am looking seriously at doing a trip with then in the near future. The website looks great!
