5 days in AZ, mostly Pheonix area, and GC... ideas?? baby too

My husband and 9 month old are visiting family in Pheonix for 5 days and want to take in some sights. Please suggest ideas in the Pheonix area... short hikes, short drives, restaurants... And we are going to the Grand Canyon for one night and two days. Ideas for a tour with an infant?

We enjoyed the Desert Botanical Garden -- in Phoenix near the airport. Wonderful place to become familiar with the desert plants and flowers! Be sure to drive through Sedona on your way to the Grand Canyon. Would be a great place to stop for a night. Plenty of nice hikes.

You might consider stopping in beautiful Sedona on the way to the GC - to see some of the incredible Red Rock formations.

I would visit Sedona on the way back from the Grand Canyon. I find driving down 89A (Oak Creek Canyon) much better than driving up the canyon.

I loved the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. It's a little bit of a drive from Phoenix, but you will see the desert in it's really unspoiled majesty. There are (easy) hiking trails and scenery to die for.

All the National Monuments on the way up to GC are spectacular. Stop at as many as you can.

We hiked in the Red Rock State Park when our kids were little and it was beautiful and easy.
