2 or 3 Days in Cleveland

I'll accompany my husband on a business trip, staying at the Embassy Suites on E. 12th St, in mid September.

Any suggestions for things for me to do during the day while he is busy with work?

I would prefer to walk or use public transportation, and I enjoy museums, parks, anything concerning local culture/fun. Too bad there isn't a ball game in town during our stay, I would enjoy seeing the stadium.

We would also like suggestions for dinner - again, if we can walk to a restuarant it would be preferable (or maybe we shouldn't be walking in this area after dark?)

Thanks in advance!

The flats is a resturaunt/bar area on the river just off Lake Erie. Shooters on the river has great yellow lake perch. If you havent had yellow lake perch, you have to try it! Blue point is good for fish and Hyde Park is great for Steak.
Rock and Roll hall of fame is close as well.

I travel to Cleveland frequently, but couldn't give you directions anywhere. The art musuem is fabulous. even if you have to take a cab it's worth it. The Rock n Roll hall of Fame is really interesting and located very near the Science Musuem, which is also interesting. There are a couple of nice malls in the downtown area. One is a converted railway station I think. Trendy shops, etc. One has a great "dancing" water fountain. The Flats is great, especially if the weather is still nice. You can actually boat from place to place and there are some top notch retuarants there as well. There is a really nice market on the west side of Cleveland, but I don't know what days it operates on and I don't think public transportation is a good option to get there. The Zoo is nice too. It has a terrific Rainforest exhibit, but transportation may be a problem. I'm not familiar with public transportation at all in Cleveland and don't know if it's practical or safe. You're hotel should be able to tell you more. Have fun

Sorry to admit this, however, the Flats are dying. Shooters is still OK but not what it use to be. I would stick around the "Warehouse District." This would be W. 6th and St Clair area. Not a far walk but I would recommend taking a cab. Blue Point is great for dinner and drinks. D'Vine is a great wine bar. Metropolitan Cafe is also a great dinner and drink place. You can dance at the Mercury, the Velvet Dog, the Spy Bar, the Wish, or the Blind Pig (in the basement).
During the day, shop at Tower City or go to the Art Museum (need to take the bus or a cab).
Have a great time!
